Glenade
The Valley:
Located between Manorhamilton and Bundoran this valley is a beautiful
scenic area with the Tievebaun Mountain to the West and the Dough
Mountain Range to the East.
The valley also known, as the jealous valley owes is name to
the legend of Parthalon the first man to reach Ireland with his
wife Dealghait after the biblical flood.
Circa 80 acres of Glenade Lough and the additional Peytons Island
form part of the property The Bonet River rises in the lake.
Glenade lake is associated with the local legend of a monster
named Dobarchu (Water Dog). In 1722 the monster killed a local
girl Grace Connolly and her husband avenged her death.

Glenade House
Colonel JJ Cullen built Glenade House 1837 in neo classical style
with imposing cut stone front featuring 10 round stone pillars.
Built of limestone the house is in original condtion, external
as internally.

It changed owners in the early 20th century to Thomas & Eliza
Scorscadden, then after World War two Mr. Keaney, a practising
solicitor was the proprietor up to the 1980. The present owner
used the property as a summer residence to come to from mainland
Europe.
